The Igbo Language Project
Established in 2021
The Igbo Language Project (TILP) is the first English to Igbo language online translation website accompanied with audio pronunciation.
This website was born out of the passion to preserve the language and to encourage fluent Igbo speakers, non fluent, beginners and non Igbo speakers who are passionate about the language to expand their vocabulary, improve their pronunciation and embrace its richness.
TILP as the name indicates is an ongoing project that would continue to grow given time and could morph into bigger projects as we expand and listen to suggestions from our users. This project is an effort of not only the TILP team but the community as well.
The primary dialects on which the translations on this website are currently based on are Imo and Anambra. There are about 30 Igbo dialects spoken in various regions in Nigeria and users are encouraged to contribute to the expansion of translated dialects.
